Re: Phil's son graduates from Princeton |
Good friend from HS, one of my "DEAD converts", ended up staying in the Bay Area, living in N SF area (San Rafael, San Anselmo, etc)...big baseball nut; kids followed in footsteps (one got a scholarship, plays in minor leagues), and he often coached them up to ~ HS. In any case, one of Phil's kids (this one, age wise, I would guess) was often on the team, and they would have "parent parties", etc., etc., each season to thank the coach, etc., etc. Bottom line: friend said that Phil & wife fit right in with any of "us" as v quiet, soft spoken, v involved baby boomer parent sorts...every indication of success, and accomplishment outside and apart from the music world.

That is cool to read about Phil. You have a feeling about someone that is noteworthy, but so often it's only a mask, revealed at some point in the freak parade (the bad one) that endlessly passes by.
I hope his son wasn't forced to hear a word from Peter Singer.

Re: Phil's son graduates from Princeton |
Yeah, the guy had to completely revamp his "den" for parties cause he had all this DEAD stuff about the first time Phil came over...he thought it would be odd if it looked like a shrine, and I can see that; most of the other parents knew, but every one just sorta ignored it, and it was apparently easily done. Which is cool too. They fit right in.
